Who We Are

Stories move us. They make us laugh, ache, hope and remember — they transport us to worlds we've never known, introduce us to people we've never met, and sometimes leave us seeing our own lives a little differently.

At Bombay Film Cartel, we believe that when the right story finds the right collaborators, something magical happens on screen.

We exist to find, nurture and produce those stories — stories that entertain and resonate, that can travel across genres, formats, screens and geographies, while leaving something behind long after the credits roll.

In a world where content can be experienced anywhere, from a packed theatre to the palm of your hand, storytelling is constantly evolving. We bring together young, instinctive creative minds with their ear to the ground and their eyes on the world, seeking out ideas that feel fresh, relevant and impossible to ignore.

For us, storytelling comes with responsibility — to entertain, certainly, but also to spark a thought, shift a perspective, or leave an emotion that lingers. We want to create stories audiences remember, and build Bombay Film Cartel into a name they associate with storytelling that matters.

Our journey began with Dupahiya, our first release on Amazon Prime Video. Starring Gajraj Rao, Renuka Shahane, Sparsh Srivastava and an acclaimed ensemble cast, the series emerged as one of 2025's breakout successes and was renewed for a second season within weeks of its release — marking Bombay Film Cartel's foray into creating, producing and showrunning original series for a global platform.

With the second season of Dupahiya slated for the end of 2026, the journey continues. There are more worlds to discover, more voices to champion, and many more stories waiting in the wings. For Bombay Film Cartel, this is just the opening scene…

Salona Bains Joshi

Producer · Showrunner · Creator

Salona holds a Master of Fine Arts from UCLA's Department of Theater, Film & Television, specializing in Content Producing — in 2012 she became the first student from India selected into its Producer's Program. She also holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver.

With 15 years in the Media & Entertainment industry, Salona's most recent role was as Producer at RSVP, Ronnie Screwvala's production venture, where she developed content and shepherded it from commissioning through release.

She spent over two years as Supervising Producer at Walt Disney Studios India, specializing in Creative Development & Production, and supervised Disney India's flagship ABCD 2: Anybody Can Dance franchise.

Before producing films, she spent five years at Reliance MediaWorks in Corporate Strategy, setting up a world-class post-production studio in Mumbai and helping acquire Lowry Digital, a Los Angeles restoration facility behind Disney classics, Jim Cameron's Avatar, and projects for NASA — work that took her to Los Angeles for two years, where she also completed her MFA.

She now leads Bombay Film Cartel, producing compelling stories and bringing memorable characters to life. As showrunner, creator and producer, her first series with Amazon Prime India — Dupahiya, a heartland comedy released in March 2025 — has been renewed for a second season slated for late 2026.

Shubh Shivdasani

Producer · Showrunner · Creator

Shubh graduated with a degree in Advertising in 2008 and began her career at agencies including DDB Mudra and Ambience Publicis, before pursuing a long-held passion for filmmaking.

She started as a Production Manager on Chillar Party and Paan Singh Tomar (UTV Motion Pictures), then became Line Producer on No One Killed Jessica and Gangs of Wasseypur. In 2011, UTV brought her in-house as Supervising Producer on the acclaimed Barfi!, directed by Anurag Basu and starring Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra — a multiple award-winner in India and that year's Oscar entry from India. She remained at UTV for four years, through its acquisition by The Walt Disney Company.

Her last stint was at RSVP, Ronnie Screwvala's venture, where she was Associate Producer and led creative and production on Karwaan, starring Irrfan, Dulquer Salmaan and Mithila Palkar, showcased at the International Film Festival in Florence.

As Co-Producer, she has worked on Netflix India's acclaimed survival drama Kaala Paani and the legal comedy Mamla Legal Hai.

Bombay Film Cartel's first release, Dupahiya, premiered on Amazon Prime Video as the first break-out hit of 2025 — starring Gajraj Rao, Renuka Shahane and Sparsh Srivastava among others. The series was renewed for a second season within weeks of release, marking the studio's foray into creating, writing, producing and show-running a series for a global platform.

The second season of the much-loved series is slated to release at the end of 2026.
