INT. BOMBAY FILM CARTEL — DAY

Who We Are

Stories possess the power to transport us to places we've never seen, and befriend people we've never met. When the right story is told, with the right collaborators, the result on screen is often surreal and magical.

Bombay Film Cartel strives to seed and produce content that can evoke this potent response, time and time again — irrespective of genre — for audiences across the globe.

Content today is medium agnostic: it can be consumed at a movie theatre or on the screen of the latest smart phone. This ever-changing landscape of entertainment requires young minds who have their ear to the ground, to consistently identify and nurture stories that are entertaining and hard hitting in equal measure.

As storytellers and content producers, we feel a huge sense of responsibility to be the bridge that helps viewers not only get regaled, but also take home a thought that makes their lives more enriched — and the Bombay Film Cartel brand indelible.

Salona Bains Joshi and Shubh Shivdasani, co-founders of Bombay Film Cartel, seated together
Salona Bains Joshi
Producer · Showrunner · Creator

Salona holds a Master of Fine Arts from UCLA's Department of Theater, Film & Television, specializing in Content Producing — in 2012 she became the first student from India selected into its Producer's Program. She also holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver.

With 15 years in the Media & Entertainment industry, Salona's most recent role was as Producer at RSVP, Ronnie Screwvala's production venture, where she developed content and shepherded it from commissioning through release. Her filmography at RSVP includes 2019's biggest Bollywood grosser Uri: The Surgical Strike, along with Kedarnath, Sonchiriya and The Sky Is Pink, as well as acclaimed direct-to-streaming titles including A Thursday, Netflix India's first original Love Per Square Foot, and the anthology Lust Stories as Creative Producer.

She spent over two years as Supervising Producer at Walt Disney Studios India, specializing in Creative Development & Production, and supervised Disney India's flagship ABCD 2: Anybody Can Dance franchise.

Before producing films, she spent five years at Reliance MediaWorks in Corporate Strategy, setting up a world-class post-production studio in Mumbai and helping acquire Lowry Digital, a Los Angeles restoration facility behind Disney classics, Jim Cameron's Avatar, and projects for NASA — work that took her to Los Angeles for two years, where she also completed her MFA.

She now leads Bombay Film Cartel, producing compelling stories and bringing memorable characters to life. As showrunner, creator and producer, her first series with Amazon Prime India — Dupahiya, a heartland comedy released in March 2025 — has been renewed for a second season slated for late 2026.

Shubh Shivdasani
Producer · Showrunner · Creator

Shubh graduated with a degree in Advertising in 2008 and began her career at agencies including DDB Mudra and Ambience Publicis, before pursuing a long-held passion for filmmaking.

She started as a Production Manager on Chillar Party and Paan Singh Tomar (UTV Motion Pictures), then became Line Producer on No One Killed Jessica and Gangs of Wasseypur. In 2011, UTV brought her in-house as Supervising Producer on the acclaimed Barfi!, directed by Anurag Basu and starring Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra — a multiple award-winner in India and that year's Oscar entry from India. She remained at UTV for four years, through its acquisition by The Walt Disney Company.

Her last stint was at RSVP, Ronnie Screwvala's venture, where she was one of the earliest hires and reported directly to him. As Creative Producer, her credits include Uri: The Surgical Strike, The Sky Is Pink, Kedarnath, Sonchiriya, Love Per Square Foot, Lust Stories and Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota. She was Associate Producer and led creative and production on Karwaan, starring Irrfan, Dulquer Salmaan and Mithila Palkar, showcased at the International Film Festival in Florence — and put together the Taapsee Pannu-starrer Rashmi Rocket. She also led creative development on the upcoming film on the life of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, directed by Meghna Gulzar and starring Vicky Kaushal.

As Co-Producer, she has worked on Netflix India's acclaimed survival drama Kaala Paani and the legal comedy Mamla Legal Hai.

She now leads Bombay Film Cartel, producing compelling stories and bringing memorable characters to life. As showrunner, creator and producer, her first series with Amazon Prime India — Dupahiya, a heartland comedy released in March 2025 — has been renewed for a second season slated for late 2026.
